A scheme costing £25,000 may help to reduce accidents involving child cyclists.
Between 2000 and 2002 there have been three accidents involving youngsters on bikes in Birchington Avenue, Grangetown.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is planning to improve a stretch of the road by building central islands, enhanced crossing points, and improved road lining and markings, before April next year.
The council's cabinet member for strategic planning, development and infrastructure, Councillor Eric Empson, said: "We believe this scheme provides the best method of reducing the accidents.
"The main trouble spots seem to be at Birchington Avenue's junctions with Rydal Avenue and Clynes Road and the junctions of St George's Road East and West."
An exhibition detailing the scheme will be on view in Grangetown Library, Birchington Avenue, for two weeks starting on Monday.
Opening times are 9.30am to 7pm weekdays, except Wednesday which is 9.30am to noon, and Saturdays 9.30am to 12.30pm.
