CONCERNS about transport services for older people in Darlington are to be addressed.
Representatives from the Growing Older Living in Darlington (Gold) group have held talks with the borough council's transport policy section to ensure transport issues for older people will be considered. The group will meet regularly with council officers, and members also hope to talk with Euro-MP Stephen Hughes to discuss additional funding to assist their plans. The group wants to hear opinions from older people in the town on their experiences with transport. It can be contacted on (01325) 482300.
DRIVERS HURT: Two drivers were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital after a collision between a Renault Clio and a Land Rover Defender on the A689 between Toronto and High Grange, on the outskirts of Bishop Auckland, yesterday afternoon. Neither was seriously injured.
WEB WORKSHOP: People interested in setting up a community website can attend a free workshop tomorrow. The session, hosted by The Northern Echo's CommuniGate programme, will be at Darlington Central Library, in Crown Street, from 10am to noon. Free websites are available for community groups and non-profit organisations.
UKRAINIANS VISIT: Twenty children from the Ukraine have arrived in Crook and will stay with host families in the Wear Valley until Wednesday, August 6. The visit has been organised by the Crook For Chernobyl Children Group, which paid for the children's flights and visas. The group will visit Beamish and South Shields, and Wear Valley District Council has provided free passes to the Glenholme Leisure Complex.
SKATING WIN: Christopher Pratt, nine, from Shildon, won the under-12s section of the Airtime Summer Sk8 Jam in Newton Aycliffe at the weekend. His brother James, six, was runner-up in the competition.
PUB GIG: Singer Dave Kelly will perform at the Quaker House pub, in Mechanic's Yard, Darlington, next Wednesday, at 8.30pm.

DANCE GROUP: Dance sessions for children under four are being held at Greenfield Community and Arts Centre, Newton Aycliffe, every Friday next month, excluding August 8, from 2pm to 3pm.
