A BLOCK of luxury flats in Darlington is almost complete, and the first residents will be moving in before September.
Darlington Mayor Councillor Ron Lewis attended a topping out ceremony to mark the completion of the roof on the Chesterfields development, in Stanhope Road.
The block of 30 two and three-bedroom apartments have been built by Darlington Homes, a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Darlington Building Society.
Already 26 flats have attracted buyers. Only four of the two-bedroom units remain, priced between £109,950 and £129,950.
Coun Lewis said: "I hope the new residents soon to be living here enjoy the comforts and elegance of this very up-to-date building. I have got to be honest when I say it was sad to see the old Chesterfields building disappear, but I think this robust new structure has many charming qualities to be a worthy replacement."
