NEWTON Aycliffe will feature on national radio as part of a series focusing on new towns.
Radio Five Live will be broadcasting from the town centre on Tuesday, August 5, between 4pm and 7pm.
Presenter Shelagh Fogarty will be in the town on the day to speak to shoppers about important issues. Peter Allen will be presenting the programme from London.
Programme makers expect the extension of Aycliffe's shopping centre to be a big discussion point.
A spokeswoman for the radio station said: "The original hook was a report issued last year by a Government committee looking at the state of new towns. It said some of them have slipped into disrepair and needed regeneration. We wanted to take the temperature and give an overview of exactly how the new towns are doing, and to see where any regeneration is happening."
