A SLICE of daily life has been captured outside a Hartlepool school.
The railings have been put around the front and side of Barnard Grove Primary School, and feature silhouettes of figures representing daily activity at the school.
They have an important safety role in that they fence off an area of previously open land which will soon be used for outdoor class sessions.
The railings are part of a much larger £47,000 project to create a wide range of new learning experiences for youngsters at the school.
Work will start at the end of this month to transform part of the plain grassed area at the back of the school into a series of themed areas.
There will be an outdoor learning area and three mini gardens; a tree garden with cherry trees and raised planters; a garden featuring a painted floor maze; and a bird garden.
All the work is expected to be finished by the start of the autumn term.
The improvements have been funded by money from the school, the North Hartlepool Single Regeneration Budget Partnership and the European Social Fund.
Headteacher Barry Len-nard, said: "We are all very excited about the improvements to our environment and the extension of learning opportunities for our children.
"We know they will appreciate the new facilities at the school and will take care of them and make the best possible use of them."
