TEENAGE all-rounder Phillip Holdsworth was yesterday named North Yorkshire's Sportsman of the Year.
The 16-year-old, who lives at East Cowton and is a student at Northallerton College, was also presented with the Donaldson Trophy by the county's director of education, Cynthia Welbourn.
Phillip is an opening batsman who captained England's under-15 cricket team last season and is also a regular on the Yorkshire Academy aside.
Besides playing cricket, he is also an accomplished footballer and is on Barnsley's books.
Phillip was chosen for the trophy despite suffering two fractures in the past year, one in a leg and the other in an ankle, and he is now easing his way back into sport with club games.
He said: "I feel very honoured. I'm also grateful to my mum and dad for their support and for the brilliant taxi service they provide."
