Darlington made it four pre-season games without defeat with a 2-2 draw at Scottish first division Queen of the South last night
Quakers twice came from behind with skipper Craig Liddle and trialist Glen Robson cancelling out strikes in either half.
Quakers began brightly with Liddle forcing an early save from keeper John Dodds, but it was opposite number Michael Price who produced the save of the night when he got down superbly to deny Derek Lyle, tipping away one-handed.
However, there was nothing trialist Price could do with a quarter of an hour on the clock when Sean O'Connor turned skilfully past Gary Pearson before firing home from close range.
Price was then spared his blushes when he fumbled a cross under pressure from Alex Burke before reviving himself to claw away the loose ball.
Quakers drew level in the 28th minute courtesy of Liddle, who rose to head home Ashley Nicholls' corner much to the delight of the small contingent of travelling fans.
And former Blyth striker Robson almost made it two for the visitors when he capitalised on a defensive slip-up, but his angled effort struck the upright early in the second half.
But it was a breakaway move at the other end which brought the game's next goal and Burke restored the lead for the Scots, lifting the ball brilliantly over the on-rushing price in the 59th minute.
However, their lead wasn't to last long as Robson pounced with an opportunist strike from close range nine minutes later to give his chances of earning a permanent deal no harm at all.
Darlington: Price, Wainwright, Valentine, Liddle, Clarke, Pearson, Keltie, Nicholls, Maddison, Robson, Conlon. Subs (not used): Coghlan, Collins, Waller, McGurk, Clark.
* Quakers' target Tom Newey is likely to sign for Orient. He rejected both Quakers and Orient in favour of a trial at QPR but after that didn't work out has asked Orient to give him another chance.
Result: Queen of the South 2, Darlington 2.
