ALMOST 3,000 people have booked with a low cost airline which starts operating in the region this autumn.
Bmibaby flights will begin from Teesside Airport in late October to Belfast and Malaga, and, from December, Geneva.
Tickets went on sale this month and airport commercial manager Richard Whitehouse said: "It would appear that the presence of bmibaby and low cost fares has really caught the imagination."
Mr Whitehouse said services to Malaga on the Spanish Costa Del Sol had proved very popular and the daily Belfast flight would benefit those wishing to visit friends and relatives, and had been welcomed by people stationed at Catterick Garrison.
