A RANGE of summer activities have been organised to keep Darlington youngsters occupied during the holidays.

The town's youth offending and community safety service has arranged a programme of events with the help of Darlington's youth partnership.

The organisations joined forces to address the link between youth crime and a lack of diversionary activities for youngsters.

Planned activities include art workshops, football skills, health workshops, team games and DJ workshops.

The Blitz bus will also be in town visiting Lingfield on Mondays, between 7pm and 9pm, and Northgate on Wednesdays at the same time.

Football in the Community brings the sport to youngsters from 6pm to 8pm in Branksome and South Park on Mondays and at the same times in Lascelles and North Lodge on Wednesdays.

Uniformed wardens and police community support officers will take part in many of the activities and will also be available to give advice to young people.

Youth clubs will also be held in Branksome and South Park on Wednesdays, from 7pm to 9pm.

Leaflets about the summer activities are available from the Dolphin Centre.
