RESIDENTS are protesting over plans to build a detached house on land in a World Heritage site.
People living in the village of Studley Roger, near Ripon, claim the home would not be in keeping with nearby houses and would be too large for the plot.
Six residents of the tiny village, which is in a conservation area, have also written protests against the planned building, on a garden.
Studley Roger is listed by Harrogate Borough Council as one of its smaller villages where new housing is permitted.
Planning officer Jill North, is recommending approval of the plan.
She said: "The site does not provide a particularly important or attractive break in the built-up area, nor does it provide views beyond the immediate street scene into surrounding countryside."
A decision on the application will be made at a meeting of an area planning committee of Harrogate Borough Council.
