Adrian McLaren wrote his name into the record books when he crashed six sixes in an over playing for Astrofade Wallsend against Stocksfield in the Three Counties Northumberland League joloring.com Premier Division.

"It was a magnificent achievement," enthused Wallsend chairman David Holmes.

"When he hit the first three balls over the line I began to think if it would be on and after every six he hit, the excitement increased.

"Everybody was over the moon when he made it six out of six. It is the first time I have seen it happen and I don't suppose I ever will again. He will be remembered for that one over but his entire innings was one to savour."

The memorable over actually produced 41 runs because the bowler sent down a wide which went to the boundary giving Wallsend another five runs.

South African McLaren, playing his first season for the club, scored 225 runs which included 19 sixes and 16 boundaries. Wallsend totalled 324-6 and when Stocksfield replied with 276 all out, a total of 600 runs had been scored in the game.
