THE hottest June since 1976 helped retail sales grow at their fastest pace for more than a year during the last month.
Consumers splashing out on barbecues, food, drink and new clothes pushed sales up 1.9 per cent compared with the previous month, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics.
The gain was the biggest since November 2001.
