CHARITY NIGHT: The Vigo Inn is hosting a pie and peas supper fundraising night with a raffle and entertainment by Alan Knight in aid of the Chester-le-Street Athletics Under-16 football team on Tuesday. Tickets are £3.50.
STORY TIME: Birtley library is holding Stories in the Library from 2pm to 3pm on Thursdays.
WATER FUN: A 25-metre hydroslide operates between 10- 11.30am with aqua scramble between 2-3.30pm, and fun and toys in the small pool, each day, at Birtley swimming pool throughout the summer holidays.
YOUNG CHAMPION: Jade Flannagan, 11, who trains at Bowes Manor Stable, near Birtley, is in the British squad which took the team silver award in the Irish Home Pony International held at the Craven Equestrian Centre.
TOP FUNDRAISERS: Lord Lawson of Beamish School, Birtley, has won a computer for raising the most money in a countrywide charity drive in aid of the National Autistic Society.
CHARITY NIGHT: The Barley Mow Inn raised £103 for the charity Strongbones during a raffle night.
