POLICE were trying to trace a driver last night after a pedestrian was badly injured in an accident.
The dog walker, who has not been named, suffered injuries including a suspected broken leg, when he was pinned to a wall by a parked car in Easington Village, County Durham.
Police said a BMW car appeared to lose control and crashed into a stationery Volkswagen Passat, which was parked outside a house in Rosemary Lane.
The impact pushed the Passat on to the pavement, where the man was passing with his dog.
He was freed before firefighters arrived and was taken by ambulance to The University Hospital of Hartlepool.
Although the dog ran off, apparently in shock, it was later found unharmed.
The BMW driver is believed to have left the scene.
Police said last night they believe they know the identity of the driver, although he, too, may have sought hospital treatment after the collision.
Witnesses to the incident, shortly before 9.30am yesterday, are asked to contact Durham Police accident investigation unit, on 0191-386 4929.
