A STUDENT has struck gold for the second year running in an international Olympiad and has become one of the top five biology students in Britain.
Toju Sillo, 19, from Prior Pursglove College, Guisborough, east Cleveland, won gold earlier this year in a chemistry Olympiad and has now won gold in biology.
She travelled to London to attend an awards ceremony at the Royal College of Surgeons and was presented with her medal by Professor Robert Winston.
"I am very happy and very excited about getting gold, particularly with it being the second" she said. "I really enjoyed my day in London and Professor Winston spoke to me about my future."
Toju, who was born in Britain, but lived in Nigeria until she was 16, has been offered a place at Trinity College, Oxford, to study medicine and will take part in biology masterclasses at Birmingham University.
