AIRBORNE lifesavers believe they have come up with this summer's must-have car accessory.
The team which keeps the Yorkshire Air Ambulance flying has launched the Yorkshire Car Rose to raise funds.
Members have joined forces with communications company NTL to produce 10,000 roses to coincide with Yorkshire Day on Friday.
Ambulance charity fundraiser Pam Thornes said: "As this year's chosen charity for the county's day of celebration, we hope to get as many people as possible involved in fundraising activities.
"We thought this was a great way for motorists to drive the celebrations forward and display their pride in Yorkshire and its mercy mission helicopter."
Roses will cost £1 each and the fundraisers hope the initiative can help them find part of the £1m they need each year to keep the service operational.
NTL is using its promotional bear Ted to help promote the initiative.
Vas Agridhiotis, the managing director for NTL in Yorkshire and the North-East, said: "The Yorkshire Air Ambulance provides a vital service throughout a large proportion of our North-East region.
"All our company vehicle drivers in Yorkshire will be displaying a rose on the front of their van or car and I hope that our thousands of customers, who I am sure recognise the importance of the charity's work, will demonstrate their support in the same way."
To buy roses in bulk for company vehicles, call the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity office on 0845 120 6060.
