WORK to the visitor's accommodation at the Sir William Turner's Almshouses in Kirkleatham, near Redcar, has been completed thanks to a donation.
Furniture for the twin-bedded room for relatives and friends of residents at the almshouses has been bought with a £750 grant from the Rotary Club of Guisborough and Great Ayton.
"Some of the cottages are a little too small to accommodate visitors comfortably and our residents find it a real boon to have somewhere for their friends and relatives to stay," said resident warden Sheila Simpson.
"Visitors often come for a few days to take care of residents who have been unwell or just to visit for a short holiday."
The almshouses have provided sheltered housing, for up to 20 people of retirement age, for 325 years.
They are offered to people with a "definable need".
This is more likely to be a social rather than a financial need.
