PARAMEDIC Dave Walker dropped in to his village church wedding at the weekend -from more than 10,000 ft.
Dave, a keen parachutist was dropped from a Cessna 206 aircraft into the grounds of the church of St Martin's, Seamer, North Yorkshire, for his marriage to teacher Lara Jordan, also a parachutist.
Dave, 32, of Seamer Road, Scarborough, was given permission by the Civil Aviation Authority to do the jump, along with his best man, Nick Johnstone.
He said his original plan was for the couple to get married in freefall, but they could not find a sky-diving vicar.
He said: "I like to do extreme things. I have even sky-dived dressed as Elvis Presley."
Lara, who has just got her first teaching post at Scarborough's Gladstone Road Junior School, said she became a sky-diver after she met Dave.
The Cessna also dropped Dave's two ushers, all four landing in a field alongside the churchyard.
The Reverend Henry Watson, who conducted the ceremony in the 12th Century church, said "It was certainly a novel way of arriving for a wedding. But all four landed very precisely on the orange circle which had been specially laid on the ground. It was all good fun and everyone enjoyed the parachute spectacle."
Former paratrooper Dave has made 2,535 jumps since he took up the sport in 1987, and Lara has made 200.
Among the guests were members of the Red Arrows parachute team and paratroopers from the Parachute Regiment.
