POLICE investigating the death of a teenage reveller would like to speak to anyone who may have seen him earlier in a nightclub.
Eighteen-year-old Gary Henderson, of Cambridge Street, Cruddas Park, Newcastle, was pronounced dead on arrival at Sunderland Royal Hospital shortly before 6am yesterday.
He was picked up by an ambulance crew minutes earlier at the front of the nearby New Monkey Club, in Pallion Road.
A police spokesman said last night: "Initial inquiries suggest that he had been in the club and we are in the process of trying to establish what caused him to collapse."
Investigating officers were keeping an open mind as to the cause of death.
A force spokeswoman said: "At this stage, there is no suggestion of any violence."
Although a post-mortem examination has been carried out, further toxicology tests are to be carried out on samples taken from the body to help determine the cause of death.
Police want to speak to anyone who can help them build up a picture of what happened to him in the lead-up to his death.
He had been wearing a grey Rockport blouson jacket, blue and white striped Henry Lloyd T-shirt, navy blue Adidas tracksuit bottoms and white Nike trainers.
Anyone with information about the death is asked to contact officers at Northumbria Police's southern control centre, on 0191-454 7555.
