A FUN DAY has raised more than £10,000 towards a sports centre for the disabled.
The Percy Hedley Foundation, a school for physically disabled children and adults in Newcastle, held an annual summer fair in aid of its sports centre appeal.
The centre will be the first in the country dedicated to people with severe physical disabilities.
It will include innovative sports such as power chair soccer and rugby, a version of bowls called boccia and new age kurling, a version of curling which is played on hard flooring instead of ice.
