RECENT funding successes are helping Wear Valley Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB) with a drive to recruit volunteers to train as advisors.
The bureau is employing a training and recruitment worker funded by two grants, one of £14,739 from the Northern Rock Foundation and another of £4,913 from the Nationwide Foundation.
An important aspect of the worker's duties would be to boost the bureau's group of volunteers, who do not need formal qualifications because they receive training.
Working as a volunteer can be a route into finding paid work and can help people make new friends and contacts.
CAB service manager Ruth Thompson said: "We are always looking for more volunteers to join the team, but having a training and recruitment worker will enable us to focus on building up our workforce and further develop the service we provide in the community.
For more information, contact the bureau at the Four Clocks Centre, 154A Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland, or telephone (01388) 660200.
