MORE than 60 young people with a disability or special needs have had the chance to try new sports thanks to Stockton's Sports Ability Club.
Stockton Borough Council's sports development team set up the club six months ago to let young people with disabilities find out more about activities.
The club operates from Billingham Campus School on Saturdays, from 10am to noon. It is run in partnership with Sports Development and Stockton Parent Support, an organisation for families and special needs groups, and is aimed at young people aged eight to 18.
In the past six months, 60 youngsters have had the opportunity to participate in football, tri-golf, boccia, hockey, netball, curling and table-top games.
Organisers aim to use local club coaches to take the sessions.
The Sports Ability Club has broken up for the summer and will start on Saturday, September 6.
