A NEW course for people who are newly diagnosed as blind or partially sighted is available in Stockton.
Independence Plus looks at all aspects of coping, as well as giving information on benefits and finance.
The course is run by the physical and sensory disabilities team, part of Stockton Borough Council's health and social care department, and will run three times a year.
The emphasis is on how to stay independent, and the sessions encourage sharing ideas and exploring practical solutions to problems.
Speakers from local organisations are invited and a separate session is held for carers, friends, partners and relatives.
To take part, call Sue Whelan on (01642) 397139 or Melanie Smiles on (01642) 624729.
There is also a new booklet available free and containing information on where people can go for help. For a copy, call (01642) 397140.
