TERRITORIAL Army soldiers from the 102 Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), in Newton Aycliffe, are supporting Aycliffe Village's bid for success in the Britain in Bloom competition.
The soldiers donated tubs, decorated in their colours, and helped to move heavy pots and containers in advance of judging for the Northumbria in Bloom event this month.
Now they are helping with preparations for the national competition, which will be judged on August 12.
Captain Mark Allison said: "We were asked if we would help out on some little jobs they couldn't manage themselves as part of the Britain in Bloom competition. We are delighted to work with the community."
