CHARITY runner Teba Diatta set off from York Minster to the sound of deafening thunder yesterday.
The 21-year-old student, who lives in Acomb, York, braved the threatening conditions to start her run to Westminster Abbey, in London, as part of a drive to help children in Senegal.
She is supporting UNICEF's efforts to raise £100,000 to provide equipment for schools in the country.
Ms Diatta plans to run 13 miles a day for three weeks.
