THE manager of a shopping centre has taken over as chairman of a civic and trade promotion body.
Richard Toynbee, manager of Durham's Prince Bishops Shopping Centre, has been named as the chairman of the Durham City Forum.
He was introduced to members at the latest meeting of the forum, when several other personnel changes were announced.
The forum oversees events in Durham, such as the summer and Christmas fairs, as well as taking part in bodies including the city's shop watch and transport action groups.
Mr Toynbee succeeds his predecessor at the Prince Bishops Centre, Peter Bennion, who stood down from both posts recently.
Jill Dodds, Prince Bishops' centre administrator, has taken on the additional administrative duties for the forum and its sister body, Durham Marketing Initiative.
Mr Toynbee also announced that Angela Colbridge is the new events co-ordinator for both the forum and the marketing initiative.
The new contact number for forum inquiries is 0191-383 2932.
