A VILLAGE show that almost folded two years ago because of the foot-and-mouth crisis will reach a milestone next month.
Sedgefield celebrates its 150th show on Saturday, August 9, at the Robert Brown Showfield in West Park.
Volunteers have been working hard to maintain a long tradition and, although the categories may have changed, local produce will still be on display as it was at the very first show.
The organisers have had to cancel cattle and sheep classes due to lack of entries but show secretary Brian Woodward assures visitors the arena will still be packed with attractions for all the family.
Horticulture, handicraft, photography and writing categories will be contested, along with classes for guinea pigs, rabbits, poultry and other birds. The steam and smell of vintage tractors will give visitors a glimpse of the past and there are dog agility events.
Gates open to visitors at 10am, with the grand parade at 3.15pm. For more details call Margaret Metcalfe on (0191) 373 1829.
