THE funeral of a teenager who died after being hit by a train is to take place tomorrow.
Benn Williams, 19, from North Ormesby, died when he was hit by a train travelling from Whitby to Middlesbrough on Sunday at about 7.30pm.
The incident happened behind St Luke's Hospital in Middlesbrough, and it is thought the driver was travelling at about 50mph around a bend when he spotted the teenager on the line.
An inquest into Mr Williams' death has been opened and adjourned at Teesside Coroner's Court. The funeral will take place at the RC Church of St Alphonsus at 10am, before a burial at Thorntree RC Cemetery.
A bouquet of yellow and white flowers, with a note attached to it, from Mr Williams' mother, Trisha, remains at the scene of the incident.
It says: "To my precious little boy, who was so loved and well liked.
"You lightened up everybody when you walked into a room with that cheeky smile. I will miss you so much son."
