A NORTH-East hotel has taken part in a survey to discover the nation's most popular wedding songs.
Corus, which owns the Hall Garth Golf and Country Club, in Darlington, asked events staff what were the most requested tunes at wedding receptions. It was one of 72 hotels in the group to take part in the survey.
The company found that Robbie Williams and disco legends the Village People were top of the pops when it came to weddings.
Robbie's 1997 hit Angels is the most frequently played first-dance song for newly-weds while YMCA is the most popular floor-filler at wedding receptions.
Van Morrison's Have I Told You Lately and Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight finished second and third respectively in the poll.
The Hall Garth's top three first-dance songs were From This Moment by Shania Twain, followed by Angels and Love is All Around by Wet Wet Wet.
Other first-songs that proved a hit were If Tomorrow Never Comes by Ronan Keating and The Power of Love by Jennifer Rush.
Frank Sinatra's New York New York came second in the floor-fillers poll followed by Los Del Rio's Macarena.
The Time Warp, Agadoo and Superman were also songs that helped guests hit the dancefloor.
A spokesman for Corus said: "No-one really worries about being cool at wedding receptions and this is probably why songs will set routines like Time Warp, the Twist and even Agadoo are popular."
