A PROFESSIONAL photographer has retained his post as chairman of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority after being re-elected unopposed.
Steve Macar will remain at the helm of the authority as it looks to the challenges of its 50th year - which include a wide-ranging Government review of the national parks.
The review will consider closer working ties between park authorities and Rural Development Agencies.
"I am delighted to be elected for a further term,'' said Mr Macar, who also serves on North Yorkshire County Council and Harrogate Borough Council and is deputy chairman of the Association of National Park Authorities. "It is a great privilege and I am very happy members have chosen to support me in this role.'' Deputy chairman for the next 12 months will be leader of Craven District Council, Carl Lis.
