A NEW record was created in the league last weekend when Middleton in Teesdale were all out for just six runs in their home game against East Cowton in Division B.
The league's assistant secretary Steve Gill confirmed that the score equalled the six runs which Cleveland Bridge made against Bishop Auckland some years ago, but that was a cup tie.
In fact, only five runs came from the bat and Dave Garth top-scored with two runs as Middleton in Teesdale collapsed to Andy Whitfield, who captured six for two, and Paul Holdsworth, who took the other two wickets at a cost of just three runs. Middleton in Teesdale fielded just nine players.
East Cowton had earlier also struggled for runs, but made a match-winning 85-6 which included an unbeaten 42 by Woodcock. Smith added 28, while D Watson returned 2-35, N Watson 2-32 and Waller 2-14 for the home side.
Rockcliffe Park lead the division despite losing by five wickets to Spennymoor.
Rockcliffe Park were all out for 116, with Marshall top-scoring on 37. Rowel took 5-49 and Troop captured the other five at a cost of 61 runs.
Spennymoor were then given a good send off by Spence (23) and Troop (44) before Rowell hit an unbeaten 26. Flood took 2-28 and the other three wickets were shared by Lowe, Raby and Edwards.
Middleton Tyas won by 67 runs at Trimdon CCA after realising 148-7 in 35 overs, with Wilkinson hitting four boundaries in 45 and Wiper, who also opened the innings, striking six fours in 52.
Brian Coughtrey bowled 12 overs to take 5-34 and Carter gave support with 2-54 for Trimdon CCA.
Trimdon CCA were then all out in 27.2 overs for just 81. Lee opened the innings with 18, which was the highest score as Campbell claimed 3-41 in ten overs, Baxter took 4-26 and Wilkinson weighed in with 3-7.
Dales and Catterick Village tied their game. The visitors made 142-4, with Swainston scoring 30, Ostleton 26 and Coultish an unbeaten 37. Three of the four wickets were claimed by Hutchinson at a cost of 67 runs and Dales used only one other bowler in the attack, with Wallis returning 1-64.
Dales then finished with 142-5. Opener Alderson made 26 and Lawson an unbeaten 43, while Bowers added a useful 22 before he was run out. Catterick Village also utilised just two bowlers in the attack, with Gailey taking 2-77 and Swainston 1-55.
A Elstob batted throughout the Lands innings for an undefeated 129 which, together with 29 by Galton and 24 not out by D Elstob, propelled the home side to 203-3.
Burton was the only Spennithorne and Harmby bowler to take wickets, returning 3-44.
The visitors then made 108-5, leaving Lands winners by 95 runs. Clarkson struck 52 and Mawer 31 as the wickets were shared by Little (2-18), P Dalton, Simpson and Howe.
Despite reducing Heighington to 70 all out, Eryholme had to work hard for a three-wicket victory. They were indebted to Thornton for his opening contribution of 30 as Jameson took 3-24 and Overfield 2-43.
Heighington's top scorer was Overfield with 25, while Craggs (4-10) was in good form with the ball for Eryholme and Lynn gave support with 3-21.
In Division A, Cockerton defeated Ingleton by eight wickets. The home side made only 98-7, which included 38 by Paul Watson. Wood made a valuable 24, but Dave Glew claimed 4-23 in 14 overs.
Cockerton then needed just 25.1 overs and conceded just two wickets making the necessary runs. Steve Farrow carried his bat for 38 and Ian Rawlings made 32 not out.
Cliffe defeated Aldbrough St John by eight wickets. Required to score 115, they won despite losing two of their first three batsmen for a combined total of just three runs. Rogerson (40no) then joined opener Hipkiss, who carried his bat for 64.
Aldbrough St John had made just 114, which included 37 by opener Jones. Holehouse contributed 21, while Carrick took 6-26 and Rutherford gave support with 2-40.
Witton le Wear had 28 runs to spare over visitors Haughton. The home side were indebted to Sneath (39no) and Jones (21no), who put together a profitable unbroken partnership for the fifth wicket. Earlier, Nelson made a useful 22, while Stocker took 2-27 and Bean 2-15.
Haughton then reached 102-8 as Dobinson top-scored with 21. Witton le Wear used just two bowlers, Jones taking 4-43 and Nelson 4-55.
Middleton St George hosted Raby Castle and won by five wickets. Their target was only 104 and, after Hussein (21) and Rogers (29) had given the innings a good send off, the momentum was maintained by Iyub (23no).
Jones took 3-33 and Poole 2-30 for Raby Castle, who earlier found run-making difficult as Hussein captured 6-40 and McKenna 4-49. West contributed 20.
Heighington made 221-6 at home to Barningham as Olney scored 52, Beaumont 54 and Wait an unbeaten 32. Walker and Bellwood claimed two wickets each in the Barningham attack.
Barningham then made just 96 all out, which included 33 by Mullens and 36 from French. Beaumont followed up his good performance with the bat by taking 3-29 and Fawcett returned 3-42.
Barton visited Rockcliffe Park and won with half their wickets remaining. Despite losing both openers cheaply, Barton were never seriously troubled as Miller, who went in at number three, made 54 not out.
Howell claimed 3-29 for Rockcliffe Park, who had realised 121 all out. Hart was their top scorer with 36 as Headon took 6-46 and P Frankland 3-39 for Barton.
