HEALTH bosses have agreed to invest £120,000 in initiatives to improve nursery facilities in the Richmond area.
The money will be invested in a neighbourhood nursery at the old GP's surgery in Colburn, adjoining the library, in The Broadway.
The project includes an enhanced library and community office, a 47-place nursery for children aged up to four on the ground floor, as well as a SureStart drop-in suite for parents.
Co-ordinator Judith Bromfield said: "This is excellent news. For some, it may be seen as an unusual departure from the traditional way that health invests in a community facility.
"However, by investing in a centre which delivers health advice and support alongside family support, early education and childcare, we will ensure families benefit from all of these services working together to improve the life chances of their children."
