PRIMARY school pupils are celebrating after coming first in a science competition.
The youngsters from class 6G of Frederick Nattrass Primary School, in Stockton, were named regional champions in the Ariel Science of Cleaning competition.
The competition was aimed at nine to 11-year-olds and was designed to help pupils and their families discover how science affects everyday lives through something as simple as washing clothes.
Pupils carried out experiments and homework assignments with their families and then had to present their findings in a creative way. Their entry consisted of a large collage-style poster.
The competition was run as part of the Ariel Stains and Science Schools Programme.
Headteacher Ray Canning said: "We are proud of our pupils' efforts in the science arena and this win reflects the enthusiasm and commitment they show to the subject."
The youngsters won a package of educational software worth £250 and a giant certificate.
