A MOTHER-OF-TWO has been awarded £300,000 in damages after a hysterectomy operation went wrong.
Julie Theasby, 36, of Hartlepool, received the money in an out-of-court settlement.
Mrs Theasby complained she suffered pain and injury following the operation at the University Hospital of Hartlepool in 1999.
The case, heard at Middlesbrough County Court, alleged negligence by North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust.
A trust spokeswoman said: "We would like to say how very sorry we are to Mrs Theasby and her family for the distress, upset and pain caused because of this incident.
"The trust hopes the damages Mrs Theasby will receive following the out-of-court settlement will go some way to improving her quality of life."
