HOLIDAY trends may come and go, but for pensioner Ena Boagey there is really only one place she would like to be.
The delights of Spain, France or Florida may suite some, but when it comes to getting away from it all there is no place quite like North Yorkshire for Mrs Boagey.
More specifically, it is the grandeur of one of the country's stately homes that has her returning again and again.
Mrs Boagey was four years old when she first visited Castle Howard, near Malton, with her family.
That was in 1924 and now, 79 years later, she continues to visit regularly, spending more time on the estate than at her home in Hartlepool.
She first visited with her father, who was involved with the Boys Brigade, which camps at Castle Howard every year.
Although her father used to stay at the house, Mrs Boagey and her mother would camp behind the Crown and Cushion pub at Welburn.
She returned each year with her family, and as time went on, became very familiar with the estate.
When the Castle Howard Lakeside Holiday Park opened, she and her family brought their caravan.
The estate, used for television's Brideshead Revisited, played a key role when she started courting her future husband, who was also involved with the Boys Brigade, in 1936.
The couple bought their first caravan on the site in 1971 for £70. Since her husband died, Mrs Boagey has lived at Castle Howard for two weeks out of every three throughout the summer months.
"I only go back to Hartlepool to do my washing and check on the house, then I come straight back," she said.
