MILES away from the pressures of the Lords Test match, some of the world's best cricketers have been bowling over village cricket crowds with a sparkling display.
Six former internationals turned out for a game at Etherley Cricket Club to support the club's professional, Yasas Tillakaratne, brother of Sri Lanka captain Hashan Tillakaratne.
Yasas, who is in his second season at Etherley, captained a World XI which beat a team of All Stars by five wickets.
Players including former Pakistani internationals Ata-ul-Rehman, Nadeem Khan and Shaheed Anwar, Indian bowler Abey Kuruvilla and Sri Lanka's Nilesh Kulkarni treated spectators to a display of their skills.
Yasas, who followed up with a game against local pub The Blacksmiths Arms, said: "It was fantastic that they all came for me. I am honoured to have them here."
