A HEART attack victim is planning to take part in a charity race to raise money for the hospital unit that cared for him.
Father-of-two Peter Stemmer was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack last Easter.
He was transferred to a hospital in Middlesbrough for a heart bypass operation but credits the Memorial Hospital's coronary care unit with helping his speedy recuperation.
Now 52-year-old Mr Stemmer, of Parkside, is hoping to raise money for the unit by taking part in Darlington's 10km Road Run on Sunday, August 10.
He will be joined by his wife, Marilyn, and friends Alan and Diane Wright, from Northallerton.
"I had the heart attack in April and was back to work part-time in June and full-time in August," said Mr Stemmer, a manager at Bell's Stores.
"I did my rehab at the Memorial and got a lot of support there. They have a research fund which they use for all sorts of things. Hopefully, I'll raise a few hundred for them."
To sponsor Mr Stemmer call him on 07952 905926 or visit any Bell's Store.
