Spennymoor are riding high in both First and Second Divisions as there teams lead both. The A team hold a nine points lead in the First Division, whilst the B team went to the top of the Second Division for the first time with a one point lead.
In the First Division Spennymoor A found themselves facing defeat for only the second time when they visited Newton Aycliffe and lost the first two frames when Peter brown and Mark Howe won. However Paul Atkinson put in a 40 break and was followed by a win from Paul Biddle to level the match. In the decider the Moors Michael Pratt beat John Briddick on the final black.
The Spennymoor B team went to the top of the Second Division after they beat the visiting Durham City by the odd point. The Moors had wins from Wayne Parry, Micky Anderson and Gary Easen, whilst the visitors replied through Barry Stoddart and Michael Pratt.
Wheatley Hill A moved nine points behind Spennymoor A after they only dropped one point to the visiting Witton Gilbert, who had Willis Joynes as their only winner. After Joynes had taken the first frame for the visitors the Hill took over with wins from Jack Wright, Alan Hall, Dennis Clish and Ronnie Peacock, who finished in style with a 45 break.
Meadowfield lost their top spot in the Second Division when they went down by the odd point at Stanley Central, who successfully introduced two players for the first time. Andy Craig with a 32 break and Davey Harrison were the winning newcomers for the Central and they were joined by Norman Rimmington to beat the wins for Meadowfield from John Jackson and Stephen Hughes.
Crowtrees joined Meadowfield in equal second place in the Second Division, one point behind Spennymoor A after they won the decider against the visiting Wingate. Jimmy Mason put Wingate ahead but then Crowtrees had wins from Sean Johnston and Sonny Hann only to see John Bourne level the match. In the decider Crowtrees Steve Armstrong put in a 34 break to beat Dave Hammond. This result leaves Wingate two points behind Meadowfield and Crowtrees.
Newhouse shot back up the First Division table to take over third place after they whitewashed the visiting Brandon with wins from Ian Dinsdale, Jimmy Hassen, John Maddox, Paul Wright and Ronnie Pearson.
Bearpark went three points clear at the top of the Third Division after they only dropped one point at Leeholme B. The home side took the first point with a win for John Taylor but Bearpark took over from there with wins from Glen Morton, Shaun Easter, Alan Smith and Andy Donaldson.
In a vital promotion clash in the Third Division second placed Coundon entertained New Durham. The visitors were never headed as they went to an odd point victory, which left Coundon only one point ahead of them. Neil Phillips took the first frame for New Durham with Stuart Neil levelling. Phil Garr restored the visitors' lead only to see Frank Nicholson equalise. In the decider New Durham went to victory when Brian Birks beat Mally Ryder.
Shotton Palms took the first three frames to ensure victory over the visiting Fishburn A, who are now seriously involved in a struggle to avoid relegation. Paul Hickman, Dave Swindle and John Armstrong were the home winners with Peter Davison and Alan Buist taking the last two points for the visitors.
Sherburn Village pulled off a very good result on their visit to Willington, who only managed to take one point when Jeremy Martin win. The Village's winners were Alan Bower, Peter McGowan, Scott Mallburn and John Bower.
Langley Park put themselves in severe relegation problems when they only took one point out of the visiting Wheatley Hill B. The visitors had wins from Ken Johnson, Tony Ellison, Jock Frost and Dave Blyth, whilst only Stephen Coates scored for the home side.
Crook Belle Vue moved level with Langley Park after they won the decider against the visiting Ferryhill. John Warriner put the home side ahead but Ian Fawcett and Bernie Jones then won for Ferryhill. Derek Potts squared the match and Crook went to victory when Harold Lomax beat Glyn Toas in the decider.
Sacriston went down by the odd point to the visiting Leeholme A. The home side had wins from Willy Nixon and Dale Evans, whilst Karl Thompson, Lawrence Jones and Barry Shaw took the visitors to victory.
In the Tow Law derby the A team raced into a winning lead with victories from Heppell Hodgson, Doug Watson and Lee Cullinan before the B team fought back. Adam Orton pulled out all the stops to win his first point of the season and was followed by a good performance from Paul Chollerton.

Bishop Auckland Golf Club extended their lead at the top of the First Division to five points after they whitewashed the visiting Hopetown. Andrew Aisbitt made a 36 break for the golfers in this match. Darlington Cricket Club B are in second place, eleven points ahead of Bishop Auckland Cricket Club.
Barnard Castle Glaxo jumped to the top of the Second Division when they did not drop a point at Bishop Auckland Gents B. This result moved them one point clear of Old Shildon, who were held to a draw in the Shildon derby at Elm Road. Bishop Auckland Gents A are two points adrift of Old Shildon.
