At the Annual General Meetng of the Hartlepool & District RFU at which Bill Featonby (Horden) was re-elected Chairman and Chris McLoughlin (West Hpool TDSOB) was returned as Secretary,the main item for discussion was to clear away last seasons Pyman Cup Competition which had fallen victim to the backlog of Leagues matches.
It was agreed that the semi finals would now be played in early September with Hartlepool Athletic against Seaton Carew and Hartlepool BBOB against Hartlepool Rovers II to decide who would contest the 2003 Final, ideally it will be played in the last week of September to tidy away the Competition.
The new season of 2003-2004 also the Centenary of the Pyman Cup, played for by clubs in the Hartlepool and District Rugby Union since it was put up for competition way back in 1903 by H.E. Pyman a prominent Shipowner in West Hartlepool and Secretary of the Durham Referees Society. Originally a League trophy it is now played for on a knockout basis by all 9 Clubs in the Union and the draw made at last night's meeting was as follows:
The first round to be played on Wednesday 7th April 2004.
West Hartlepool II v Seaton Carew.
2nd Round to be played on Wednesday 14th April, 2004.
A. Horden II v Hartlepool II; B. West Hartlepool II or Seaton Carew v
West Hpool TDSOB II; C. Hartlepool B B O B v Hartlepool; Athletic D. Hartlepool Rovers II v West Hartlepool Amateurs.
Semi Final Ties to be played on Wednesday 21st April, 2004. Winners of Tie A v Winners of Tie B, Winners of Tie D v Winners of Tie C.
Centenary Final Tie to be played on Wednesday 28th April, 2004.
