A major classical music concert in the region will be free to children.
The Spirit of the Celts concert on the River Tees in Stockton later this month is one of the biggest North-East classical music events of the year.
But many of the musicians, including renowned deaf percussionist Evelyn Glennie, are promoting the fact the show is free to a limited number of children in an effort to increase interest amongst the young.
Evelyn Glennie said: "In Britain we're rapidly losing a culture of music making. The listening skills of our young people have changed, they're not rolling their sleeves up and getting their hands dirty."
If Kids for Free is quoted when booking one child can attend the concert for nothing when accompanied by an adult paying the discounted price of £5. Spirit of the Celts is an audio visual spectacular which combines light classic music from Glennie, flautist Dave Heath and traditional Northumbrian musician Kathryn Tickell. There will also be dance displays set against a light show designed by Stephen Barnett. The event will take place at the Tees Barrage.
Other tickets are available priced from £15. For more information call the box office on (01642) 777778.
