Loftus still lead Division One despite losing for the first time this season. Dormans had four wickets to spare overtaking the Loftus total of 110 which would have been a good deal less but for mid-order contributions of 31 by Severs and 33 from Tyreman. Hadfield had a good day with the ball for Dormans claiming the wickets of the first four batsmen to finish with four for 40 while Moor, introduced as first change also captured four wickets at a cost of just 22 runs. The other two wickets were taken by Dale for 28 runs.

When they replied Dormans also made an indifferent start before Insall (38) and man of the match Hadfield, who carried his bat for 33, out together a partnership which enabled Dormans to clinch their eighth win of the season. Morrison with two for 44 and Smithies whose two wickets were taken for 17 runs were the most productive in the Loftus attack in which Whitfield and Barratt took one wicket apiece.

Ormesby Hall are second following their big win over Norton. The visitors, faced with a target of 221, managed only 85 all out as Wilkinson took four wickets for a meagre 19 runs and Pennington weighed in with an analysis of three for four. McCabe took two for 27.

In contrast the runs flowed when Ormesby Hall batted first. They romped to 220 for six as Quayum opened the innings making 47, Leech added 29, Smith 35 and McCabe, who finished undefeated with 59. The five man Norton attack struggled but Hirst captured three for the six wickets to fall for 70 runs.

Hinderwell in third position had six wickets in hand of Paragonians who, when they made first use of the wicket, totalled only 102 all out which included 23 by Rhoden. Swain claimed six wickets for just 41 runs and Bowes had four for 23.

After Hicks opened the Hinderwell reply scoring 39, Bowes ended undefeated on 33 out of a total of 104 for four.

Staithes hosted Normanby Parklands and won without conceding a wicket. Parklands batted first and managed only 61 all out in 30 overs as Mark Allen took four for 21 in seven overs and Alan Theaker picked up two wickets for just one run in three overs. Hall had two for 13 and both Thornton and S Theaker took one wicket apiece.

When they replied to the low target, Staithes raced home in just 17.5 overs. Richard Ward hit nine boundaries in an unbeaten 46 and his opening partner Ken Young carried his bat for 12 in a total of 63 for none.

The Merlin managed only 119 all out and were defeated by seven wickets on their visit to Brotton. Pacitto opened the Merlin innings scoring 23 and there were useful contributions from Mullen and Kemphall. Later Mee and Moss also made double figures but the total of 119 always appeared vulnerable. Broughton took four wickets for just 26 runs while Smith had five for 33.

In reply, Brotton conceded an early wicket before Ridley with 23 found an able partner in Ward, who carried his bat for 61. Passmore contributed 21 to the total 123 for three and two of the wickets were taken by Moss for 47 runs.

In Division Two, Boosbeck are leaders after they saw off rival contenders for promotion Loftus by five wickets. Carr, who went in at number three, led Loftus to 74 all out when he contributed a top scoring 31. Lorraines was in splendid form with the ball for Boosbeck taking five for 25 and Daynes gave support with four for 47.

Responding, Boosbeck lost an early wicket before Daynes (17) found a partner in Passmore after both Ward and Lorraines had departed. Passmore was still there at the end, unbeaten on 13 but it was Brown who secured victory when he carried his bat for 37 out a total of 75 for five. Four of the wickets were taken by Smithies for a mere 14 runs and Bulmer returned one for 35.

Moorsholm are second from top after being awarded 25 points because Skelton Castle were unable to field a side.

Normanby Parklands were all out for just 48 in their home game with New Marske for whom Alderson claimed four for 11, Taggart three for 20 and Lightwing two for eight. The low target proved easy for New Marske who conceded just two wickets. Both opened went for a combined total of ten runs before Robson with an unbeaten 19 was joined by Burns who was also unbeaten at the end.

Dormanstown managed 139 for seven but still lost at home to Ormesby Hall whose last pair was at the wicket when victory was secured.

Ormesby Hall struggled for runs early on in their reply but Burns raised their hopes scoring 53. Even so, it took a last ditch effort from Knight, with an unbeaten 14 and last man Robertson to see Ormesby Hall to an exciting victory. Batting first, Dormanstown were indebted to Johnson who made 45 runs before he was run out. Lloyd added 26 and both Gibbon and Froom contributed 21 while for Ormesby Hall, Gasoor Junior was the most successful bowler with three for 30.

Cowpen Bewley declared on 184 for six and then dismissed Blacksmiths Arms for 145. Carr was in splendid form with the ball for Cowpen Bewley and he took six wickets for just 37 runs. Spacey returned two for 24 and Quinn two form 27 while for the visitors their top scorer was King with 40. Tweed and Hann both made 22.

Batting first, Cowpen Bewley lost early wickets before Horner with 48 and Beesley, who finished undefeated on 60, put together a profitable partnership which enabled a declaration to be made. Hann captured three of the six wickets to fall for 36 runs and Prosser gave support in the Blacksmiths Arms attack with two for 48.
