THE first steps have been taken towards providing a new radio station for Hartlepool.
Former Radio One DJ Mark Page hopes that Pool FM will go live on Saturday, September 6.
The station, part of a project led by Garrison Radio and local family firm Gillens, will feature programmes by Mark Page and fellow Radio One DJ Dave Lee Travis.
Mark Page, who is managing director of both Pool FM and Garrison Radio, which already runs four stations for the Army, hopes the new venture will reach about 100,000 people in the town.
He said: "For many years, I have had the ambition of providing a truly local radio station for Hartlepool, and, thanks to our chartered accountants Horwath Clark Whitehill, myself and Leo Gillen have taken the first steps to making this a reality with Pool FM."
