MORE details emerged yesterday of the death of a man whose body was found in the street in the early hours of Sunday.
The man, who has yet to be named, died after cutting his arm when he punched through the front window of his house.
He suffered a heavy loss of blood following the incident in St Paul's Terrace, in the Holgate area if York, at about 1am.
Neighbours said they heard the man banging on the door and shouting to be let inside his house. Moments later they heard him "hitting his hand through the window".
It is believed the man's partner turned up about ten minutes later and found him slumped outside, bleeding heavily, and she raised the alarm.
One neighbour said: "It's really awful. We were told he had severed an artery and bled to death after putting his fist through the window. Nobody knew - it just sounded like another domestic argument."
Another local resident said: "It's one of those freak accidents."
The man was pronounced dead at York District Hospital and a police spokesman confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.
