The City team beat the visiting Spennymoor by 88 shots to 52 and lost on only one rink to take over the leading position from Vane Tempest, who went down by the odd point at home to Brandon.

SWD Open Triples Championship

After a long day in the rain on Durham City green the King George V team of G. Wilkinson, J. Emerson and A Musgrave beat the Fishburn team of G. Hayles, R. Lindley and K. Wilkes by 11 shots to 8. The league officials wish to thank the Durham City Club for their hospitality.

South West Durham League

Mainsforth lost ground on leaders Spennymoor A when they were beaten by third in the table Shildon Railway. The win was the fifth in a row for in form Railway. Spennymoor Jubilee whitewashed second division pacesetters Spectrum. The win takes Jubilee to the top for the first time this season.

In the Semi-Finals Rovers were 12-10 winners over Tommy Harris and Eddie Higgins, and Horden gained a 14-10 verdict against Ann and Peter Eglintine. The presentations were made by Town Concillor Janice Measor.
