AN audience has been invited to picnic in a park while watching one of the oldest works of English theatre.
More than 45 North Yorkshire youngsters will be presenting the Wakefield Mysteries in Harrogate's Valley Gardens from August 19 to 21.
Members of Harrogate Youth Theatre, whose ages range from seven to 16, will present the piece.
A spokesman for the group says: "With universal themes and a combination of songs, dancing, clowning and spectacle, this is a show for the entire family."
The group chose Valley Gardens because the mysteries were originally performed outdoors by farmers, mechanics and other workers.
Performances start at 8pm with a matinee on Thursday at 2.30pm. Tickets are £4 and £6.50 via the theatre box office on (01423) 502115.
They can also be bought from the gardens an hour before the performance starts.
