A TEENAGER appeared in court yesterday charged with breaching an interim anti-social behaviour order on the day it was imposed.
The 16-year-old, from Thornaby, near Stockton, is accused of using abusive language on July 17, only hours after the order was imposed to curb his unruly ways.
Teesside magistrates imposed the interim order at the request of residents, traders and police officers because of his threatening and abusive manner.
The order prevented the teenager, who cannot been named for legal reasons, from being abusive to anyone within the boundaries of Stockton Borough Council.
He was also barred from areas of Thornaby, including Thorntree Road and Lanehouse Road, and was told he could no longer enter Bell's Stores or the Robert Atkinson Centre, both in Thorntree Road.
The interim order also protected witnesses until the full case against him was heard.
At Teesside Magistrates' Court yesterday, Jane Scott, for the youth, said the alleged breach occurred when he rowed with his girlfriend and then his mother.
She said following the arguments he went outside and swore at no one in particular, but was overheard by a neighbour.
When the neighbour spoke to him he became abusive and was arrested for breaching the interim order.
Chairman of the bench, Jacqueline Brown, granted him unconditional bail and adjourned the case until next Thursday.
