A FUN day has been organised to launch a Shopmobility scheme for disabled and elderly people living in an east Cleveland town.
The scheme in Redcar has received £90,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund and provides access to the town's shops by suppling wheelchairs and scooters.
To celebrate the service a fun event, involving team games of skill using wheelchairs and scooters, will be held in the town centre on Thursday, August 21.
Cheques and equipment will also be presented by the Shopmobility scheme's sponsors.
Barbara Rankin, vice chairwoman of the Redcar and Cleveland Disabled Access Group which runs the scheme, said: "We are delighted to open this much needed scheme in Redcar thanks to the generosity of the Community Fund and other sponsors."
