A CHARITY is urging as many people as possible to take a death-defying plunge - to help them move to new premises
Chopsticks, of Northallerton, has already recruited 50 volunteers to tackle a 160ft bungee jump on Sunday, September 28.
But the group hopes to find many more to help them raise as much as £5,000 towards their £850,000 appeal.
The town's Golden Lion Hotel is providing the site - behind the property - free and the event will take place between 10am and 4pm.
Most of the volunteers so far are from local businesses, including the Northallerton branch of Somerfield, from which seven staff are taking part, and integrated design build business Severfield-Reeve Projects, of Thirsk.
Organiser Graham Cook said: "We are delighted with the support we have from would-be bungee jumpers and we are sure it will be a great day. We would be very grateful for corporate and individual sponsors to help us turn the event into a valuable part of our appeal, which is making good progress."
Chopsticks provides work activities and training for more than 50 adults with learning disabilities and when the appeal reaches its target, the charity will be able to buy land and build premises from which it will be able to double its activities and develop its services to the community.
Anyone wishing to take part or help sponsor the event can contact Mr Cook on (01609) 777292 or 761661.
