BREASTFEEDING mothers are facing problems finding adequate facilities in Darlington, according to a study.
Research into the availability of facilities in several key buildings in the town concluded that not enough was being done.
The study was undertaken by two borough councillors after reports that breastfeeding rates in Darlington were increasing.
They found that while the Crown Street Library and Dolphin Centre had good facilities, there were problems at the town hall, Central House and Arts Centre.
There are no dedicated areas in the town hall or Central House. There are no sinks, bins or baby changing facilities.
The Arts Centre has some facilities, but they are not considered adequate.
A full study of how the situation can be improved over the coming year is to be undertaken.
