Edith Thompson was joined by family, friends and the Mayor of Darlington to celebrate her 100th birthday.
Mrs Thompson, who was born in Sowerby, near Thirsk, in North Yorkshire, is a popular figure at Tempest Anderson House, in Darlington's Brinkburn Road.
The care home's residents were joined by Darlington Mayor Councillor Ron Lewis, to mark the centenary celebration.
Mrs Thompson's sister, Irene, was among the large number of guests to congratulate the grandmother and great-grandmother.
